Who we are
SEND Friends Community Interest Company ('we', 'our') provides non-clinical peer support, advocacy support, and community connection opportunities for neurodivergent children, young people, adults and parent carers within North East Lincolnshire and surrounding areas.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for data protection.
What information we collect
To provide our service we may collect:
- your name and contact details
- information about your child or your own needs
- notes from sessions (brief, factual, non-clinical)
- email and messaging communications with you
- feedback or evaluation information
We only collect information that is reasonably required for peer support.
We do not diagnose, assess or hold clinical records.
How we store your information
Personal information is stored securely, and access is restricted to the SEND Friends CIC director (and named volunteers when appropriate and supervised).
Digital information is stored on password-protected devices.
How long we keep it
We keep information for up to 3 years unless we are required to keep it longer for legal reasons. After this time it is securely deleted or destroyed.
Sharing information
We do not share information unless:
- you give clear consent
or
- we are required to by law (e.g. safeguarding concerns)
or
- you have asked us to help communicate with a school, professional or service
We will always aim to discuss this with you first unless it would place someone at immediate risk.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask what information we hold
- request corrections
- request deletion (unless there is a safeguarding/legal reason not to)
- withdraw consent
