Consultancy

At SEND Friends, I offer consultancy to nurseries, schools, tutors, and home education settings who want to better support children and young people who are finding things difficult.

Often what is described as "challenging behaviour" is really communication—a child showing us, in the only way they can at that moment, that something isn't working for them. My role is to bring a fresh perspective, grounded in lived experience and a neuroaffirming approach, to help you understand what might be driving the difficulties and how to respond in ways that are supportive, respectful, and effective.

What I Offer

  • Observation & Listening – taking time to notice patterns, triggers, and strengths.

  • Collaborative Problem-Solving – working alongside staff, parents, and carers to uncover what a child's behaviour might be communicating.

  • Person-Centred Strategies – practical, tailored approaches that help children thrive rather than just survive.

  • Co-Produced Plans – guidance to create support strategies that align with goals, targets, and the child's individual needs.

  • Flexibility Across Settings – whether in nursery, school, at home, or with tutors, consultancy can be shaped to fit the environment.

Why SEND Friends?

As a parent, peer supporter, and author with lived experience of neurodivergence, I understand the importance of being seen, heard, and understood. My consultancy is not about fixing children—it's about empowering the adults around them to create spaces where children feel safe, valued, and able to succeed.

Together we can move beyond behaviour management to build supportive relationships and meaningful strategies that make a real difference.

How It Works

  1. Enquiry – Get in touch to share a little about the child or young person and the challenges being experienced.

  2. Initial Meeting – A conversation with key adults (staff and/or parents) to gather background information.

  3. Observation – Time spent in the child's setting (classroom, nursery, home learning space, etc.) to understand the environment, routines, and interactions.

  4. Consultation Meeting – A collaborative session with supporting adults to discuss insights and explore what the child might be communicating.

  5. Recommendations Report – A written summary with practical, person-centred strategies and suggestions for next steps.

  6. Follow-Up (optional) – Ongoing support to review progress and refine strategies if needed.

Investment in support

  • Initial Consultation Package (meeting, observation, recommendations report): £250

  • Follow-Up Session (review meeting, updates to strategies): £80

  • Ongoing Support (e.g. termly check-ins, updating strategies and report as required): from £80 per session

(Travel costs may apply for in-person visits outside of Grimsby and Cleethorpes, or online sessions can be arranged.)

Important to Note

SEND Friends consultancy is based on lived experience and neuroaffirming practice, drawing on understanding of autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, demand avoidance, anxiety, and related needs.

It is not clinical advice and does not replace input from medical or therapeutic professionals. Instead, it offers a practical, compassionate perspective to complement existing support and help adults respond in ways that are respectful, effective, and person-centred.
